Our Story

The Uprising Football Club began with a simple belief: youth soccer in the U.S. can be done differently — better.

Our founder, Carlos Rincon, grew up playing the game at the highest levels, from Santa Monica United to collegiate soccer at both UCLA and Cal State LA, competing at the NCAA Division I level. Along the way, he noticed a common pattern: clubs often prioritized winning today over truly preparing players for tomorrow.

Despite reaching Division I, Carlos experienced firsthand how rare genuine long-term opportunities can be. Advancement to college soccer and beyond is not determined by talent alone. It is often shaped by economics and access. Without the financial flexibility to attend the right showcases, travel consistently, or leverage influential relationships, many talented players find doors closed. Meaningful exposure, sustained development, and character growth are not systemically built into these environments.

That reality shaped the foundation of Uprising: a development-first system designed to prepare players fully; technically, tactically, physically, and mentally, regardless of background.

The Spark

In August 2020 post covid, Carlos decided to create a program where development comes first, culture matters, and every player has a pathway to reach their potential. With that vision, The Uprising Football Club, Inc. was founded and registered on July 2, 2022 — a nonprofit committed to leveling the playing field, providing world-class coaching, and offering opportunities that go beyond local competition.

Early Days

The first teams were small but focused, driven by one mission: to cultivate talent, leadership, and resilience in every player. Coaches and families quickly saw the difference — players weren’t just improving their game, they were growing as people. From weekend tournaments to local showcases, the commitment to long-term development set The Uprising apart.

Growth and Impact

Since our founding, The Uprising has:

  • Launched the Elite Development Program (EDP) to challenge top players

  • Created pathways to college programs and professional opportunities

  • Built a network of alumni who inspire and guide the next generation

  • Expanded programs for all skill levels while maintaining a culture of excellence and care

Every step of growth has stayed true to our original mission: to change the culture of youth soccer in the United States.

Our Vision Today

Today, The Uprising is more than a club — it’s a community of athletes, families, and coaches committed to development, character, and opportunity. Our players train, compete, and grow in environments that prepare them for the next level — on the field, in the classroom, and in life.

We continue to focus on long-term player development, creating leaders, building connections, and providing exposure opportunities that were once hard to find in youth soccer.
